The museum is situated in the historical residence of the Vicaris, the Florentine governors of
Lari, which was built between the 11th- and 14th century. It exhibits Etruscan finds (clay
material found out in the Castle), Roman finds (among which a statue of a goddess dating
back to the 2nd century AD), Medieval finds (16th- and 17th-century pottery decorated with
coats of arms and heraldic motifs, as well as some architectural fragments). Remarkable
exhibits: a collection of 98 coats of arms made of glazed terracotta, limestone and marble
attributed to the Della Robbias.
